Local

This is the apartment block I see when looking out of the window. It's built in the 1970s and I like it. In the evening it's nice to see the lights go on in the apartments. Now in lockdown everyone is at home. But it's not that I see people doing interesting things though. They all disappear below window level in what must be their sofa just to reappear once in a while, I'm guessing on their way to the toilet or to grab a bag of chips in the kitchen.

It's so cosy to stay in my neighbourhood this November. Funny right, how one can be local in a big city. I even signed up for nebenan.de, a website that helps you to engage more with your neighbourhood. My wish is to do dog sitting.

I prefer small dogs, like for instance the dog Cookie who I met the other day:

Here a little fact: this plaque doesn't easily catch your attention but it states that the village Tempelhof was founded on this spot in the 13th century. Nowadays, there is a Woolworth.

And this is my neighbour Lina Berlina. She is a cool fashion designer. Her trademark are the Indonesian striped textiles. I bought a Lina Berlina mask. You can do so too. Click here

My other neighbour Charlotte is also creative. Here she is sewing a pillow cover. You can use sewing machines for free at Selfmade near the Alt-Tempelhofer harbour.

In front of town hall, there is a Brutalist sculpture of 1969. The artist Gerson Fehrenbach was known for his "knubbelartige Ausstülpungen" (lumpy protrusions), Wikipedia says.

Last but not least, we're all very relieved in Alt-Tempelhof that Karstadt was saved from bankruptcy and can stay for another five years. Where else can you buy a bouquet made out of pasta?
