I am a you-ambassador (in German "Du-Botschaftlerin"). I transport you-messages (or Du-Botschaften). What defines a you-message, you ask? A you-message is a small accusation or projection and triggers slight discomfort. They can be easily swallowed. That's the easy way but, actually, the person being addressed would rather address the messenger directly and say, "Hey you, how do you talk to me? I don't like you-messages!"
Mother's Day - Who doesn't love it? Especially when you have a mother who expects gratitude, love and gifts but never seems to really enjoy your presents. My idea for last year was a mechanical milk frother because till then my parents used a whisk to foam milk. Rather unenthusiastically and after a more vigorous effort on my part I often heard that I am the best milk foam producer. As I don't drink milk, I can't confirm that but I always accepted the compliment proudly.
So now a milk frother to replace me - what was I thinking? For this I had bought barista oat milk (the expensive kind) to rub my veganism a bit in other people's faces, typical I know, but it leaves a mark so I take the chance whenever I can. My roommate uses the same kind of milk, also the same milk frother by the way (odd) and he raves about it as being the ultimate joy and I mean the fact that soy milk does not taste with coffee is well-known to all. On the day of the day, Mother's Day, I'm very pleased to be so well prepared and with a swollen chest I want to take the oat milk from the refrigerator. BUT! It's already open... Bambambam
"You opened my oat milk. The expensive one (brand names deleted)!!!", I grouch at my roommate.
I had to settle for the cheap one and, embarrassed, handed it to my mother with the milk frother. Well, what can I say, to this day she doesn't like the milk frother. She only uses it to warm the milk because, according to her, it produces too much foam. However, I'm convinced that if I had brought her the expensive oat milk that day, she would have been thrilled with the amount of foam that would have been produced, she would probably even be vegan now. At least I still have a gift idea for this year.
